Hi Kellie – Welcome to planDisney!
The
Disability Access Service is an accommodation provided by Disney for individuals with a cognitive disability that makes long waits challenging. Typically, DAS is not available for individuals with limited mobility.
However, I have spent multiple trips to the Happiest Place on Earth with family or friends who had limited mobility. Disneyland Resort has some great options that I feel will make your husband’s trip more comfortable.
One option is access to
rent a wheelchair or Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV). When I went to Disneyland for the first time with my dad, he rented an ECV and found it so much easier to navigate the resort as a result. Guests may rent a wheelchair or ECV right outside the east side of the
Disneyland Park Main Entrance.
Another helpful tool is the
Disneyland Mobile App map, which allows Guests to filter attractions and experiences based on mobility requirements. You may also view mobility requirements in advance on the
Disneyland Resort website.
Before I let you go, I want to share that if your husband rents a wheelchair or ECV or decides to use his knee scooter, some attractions will have you continue to use the standard queue, while others may utilize the exit or some alternate entrance. When in doubt, the attractions with an alternate entrance for those with mobility concerns usually have a Cast Member nearby to direct you or answer your questions about mobility requirements.
While visiting the resort with your husband, I hope you find some downtime for a pleasant romantic dining experience. If you do, I highly recommend the
Carthay Circle Restaurant. The atmosphere is sophisticated and elegant, perfect for a couple.
Best wishes,
Lola
