Need info on travel during Christmas holidays. I have an 8 yr old is he to small for the crowds, lines during this busy time? We are looking to travel the day after Christmas is there still MVMCP shows available?

Hi Jennifer! Your question makes my heart so happy. My absolute favorite time of year to visit Walt Disney World Resort is during the Holidays.

We visited on Christmas Day when my kiddos were your son's age and they did just fine. My son is very small for his age so I completely understand your question. I'm going to give you a few tips to help you navigate through the crowds and get the most out of your time at Walt Disney World Resort.

Unfortunately, you will miss Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (it runs on select nights from November 8 to December 22, 2019) but there are plenty of other Holiday must do's to experience.

This is a very popular time of year at Walt Disney World Resort so lines can be long and crowds can be large. If you go in knowing that and have a plan, I'm confident you will have a magical vacation experience.

If you are staying at a select Walt Disney World Resort, be sure to make your FastPass+ selections 60 days out and plan to be at the theme parks at opening. Extra Magic Hours are also a great way to maximize your time. We typically arrive when the theme park opens and experience our must do attractions first. From there, we make our way throughout the theme park, using our My Disney Experience mobile app as a guide to know where the shortest wait times are. We typically leave the theme park in early afternoon and Resort hotel hop to see the beautiful decorations, enjoy a late lunch, or spend some time at our Resort hotel resting. In early evening, we make our way back to the theme park. There are times when the theme parks can hit maximum capacity. If you are concerned about leaving the theme park, you can recharge yourselves by walking through the shops or sharing a snack.

There is no way for me to tell you how truly magical it is to spend the Christmas holiday at Walt Disney World Resort. You will love it and it will take your breath away when you see Walt Disney World Resort, at Christmas time, through the eyes of your eight year old.

    Enjoy every magical moment!
