I need help with someone who has stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter. Being our first time going I really want to stay at the one that is best. Could you please help me.

My family has stayed at both resorts. On our most recent WDW vacation, we stayed a few days at Port Orleans Riverside (POR).

While both resorts are beautiful, I would steer you towards Port Orleans French Quarter (POFQ) until the rooms at POR undergo a renovation. Rooms at POFQ are currently being refurbished with an approximate completion date in late spring. Many buildings have already been completed so if you are vacationing soon, request a recently refurbished room. POFQ rooms will have new furniture, bedding, tiles, flat-screen TVs and more. The double beds are reportedly being replaced with queen beds!

Let me note some other differences in case the room quality is not the most important factor in your decision. Each family has differing requirements.

    POR:
has rooms in the Bayou section that will accommodate up to five guests due to a small trundle.
has a pool with a nice slide.
has a food court that is large but relaxing.
    is a very large resort.

    POFQ:
has a pool with a slide that is geared to small children.
has a smaller food court and seating is less cozy than POR.
    is a small, charming resort.

The walkway between the two resorts is pleasant, especially on a warm evening. Both resorts share Sassagoula Riverboat transportation to Downtown Disney.
