Hi Joseph! Welcome to planDisney!
We all know Walt Disney World is the best place to take your children on a magical vacation! But many Guests don't realize that it is also an ideal destination for an adult trip as well! It feels like a lifetime ago that my wife and I visited the Walt Disney World Resort without our daughters, but you are in luck! I'm in the process of planning an adult-only stay later this year to celebrate my wedding anniversary. I have plenty of tips and recommendations to share to make your stay as special and memorable as can be!
First, you will want to decide where to stay. The Disney Resorts Hotel that I think about first is
Disney's Riviera Resort. Between the European architecture and Mediterranean influences, you are not going to get a more beautiful or relaxing atmosphere to spend your time away from the parks. You also have one of the best new restaurants sitting on the top floor of this resort, Topolino's Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera. You'll be able to spend many romantic evenings dining at this location and overlooking EPCOT. If you time your dinner reservation just right, you can get a great view of Harmonious to close out your night! The Riviera Resort also sits on the Disney Skyliner loop which gives you easy access to two of the four theme parks and many other Disney Resorts Hotels. Getting to and from the parks and dining locations will be a breeze.
Depending on your budget, the Gran Destino Tower at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is another great place to stay for an adult-only trip! You get many of the luxuries of a deluxe resort for a more affordable cost. There is plenty to explore at this resort and it has some fantastic dining locations to choose from as well. Toledo - Tapas, Steak & Seafood is a great option for a tapas-style meal, where you can share many small plates to get a taste of it all!
Since you are planning to spend a week at the Resort, I suggest adding the Park Hopper Option to your park tickets. This will allow you to visit multiple theme parks in one day and gives you the flexibility to plan your days without restrictions. You can start your day with attractions at the Magic Kingdom, take a mid-day break to enjoy the pool at your resort, then have a wonderful dinner planned at EPCOT for that night. On my upcoming Anniversary stay, I have a day planned exactly like this and we plan on having dinner at
Le Cellier Steakhouse in the Canadian Pavilion.
Outside of the parks and resorts, Disney Springs is another great option to spend a romantic day/evening. You can spend your day shopping, followed by dinner at Wine Bar George, and a dessert at Gideon's Bakeshop. If you have some time to spare, take a captain-guided tour with
Vintage Amphicar Tours. It's a retro-style car turned into a boat that will take you around Village Lake. It's a unique experience and something different to try on your stay.
Joseph, I noticed a discrepancy between the dates in your question and your arrival date. If your intention is to visit next year, then you will have plenty of time to plan for your upcoming stay. Vacation packages for the following year historically have been released at the beginning of the summer. Once these dates go on sale, you can book your stay and make payments throughout the year to pay it off. If your plan is to visit next month, you'll need to book your stay as soon as possible. Disney Resorts Hotels will be limited in availability and park reservations are starting to fill up.
I hope you have a magical visit, Joseph! Stop back to planDisney anytime!
Happy planning!
