I need help for planning my first trip with my son. I am not sure what to do and so confusing about all the choices.

Welcome to planDisney, LU and thanks for dropping by with your question.

I’m so happy you’re hEAR planning your very first trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth. Just consider me the Fairy Godmother to your Cinderella, ready to help you make Magic for your son.

LU, if it fits into your plans and budget I recommend starting your planning journey by booking a vacation package that bundles a Disney Resorts Collection hotel stay with your theme park tickets. You’ll begin by selecting a resort based on your travel dates. If you input your desired dates on THIS page, you’ll see what Disney Resorts Collection hotels have availability. There are a plethora of choices including budget friendly options up to luxury accommodations. I would encourage you to take a few minutes and browse through the list of choices and consider what’s most important to you on this vacation. If you’d like more specific recommendations or have questions about resorts, please come on back to planDisney!

Now, LU, after you’ve selected a resort, you’ll be prompted to select tickets as part of your vacation package. Depending on the length of your stay and how much time you’d like to spend, I like to recommend a 4- or 5-day standard ticket for first time guests. A 4-day standard ticket allows you to visit all four parks for one day each. If you purchase a 5-day standard ticket, you would be able to visit one park twice (and depending on the age and interest of your son, we would be happy to provide recommendations for a repeat park).

LU, once you’ve selected your resort and theme park tickets, you’ll follow the prompts to book your package and you’ve completed the first step toward your Magical vacation! Next, if you haven’t already created a My Disney Experience account, you’ll need to do so in order to connect your reservation and continue planning. THIS page will direct you to linking reservations. I’ll also direct you to THIS question and answer about Disney Park Pass reservations (which can be made as soon as your reservations are linked to your account). We love to talk about dining around the Walt Disney World Resort, the brand new Disney Genie offering and more!

    Wishing you all the best,
    Lauren

Greetings from central Pennsylvania! Hi, I’m Lauren and I can’t wait to answer all of your Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Vacation Club questions. My husband and I became Disney Vacation Club Members because we love visiting the Disney Parks and with hectic day-to-day schedules, wanted to prioritize time away for our family. The options at the Walt Disney World Resort make each trip unique and I am excited to help other families build vacations with those unforgettable moments.
