i need help getting around, what is available

    Hi Todd,

Thank you so much for visiting planDisney with your question. I am happy to help you consider ways to get around during your Walt Disney World vacation.

I want to start by assuring you that Walt Disney World offers many accommodations and supports for guests with mobility disabilities. The website that I just linked provides a great overview, as well as a phone number to call to speak with a cast member if you have further questions.

At Walt Disney World, you will be able to rent a wheelchair or rent an electric conveyance vehicle (ECV) at the Walt Disney World theme parks, Disney Springs, and the Walt Disney World water parks. To do this, you would locate the rental location at your destination of choice and simply rent your wheelchair or ECV for the day. We did this after a few days of a trip with a guest in our party a while ago. She had mobility challenges, but at home did not require an ECV. After a few days of so much walking at Walt Disney World, she rented an ECV on our day at Disney's Animal Kingdom. It made her day so much better that she rented one every day thereafter!

If you do rent an ECV or wheelchair at Walt Disney World, please note that you need to return it to the location from which you rented it, so these cannot leave that theme park or location. However, save your receipt. If you move from location to location on the same day, you can show your receipt and receive an ECV or wheelchair at your next location without having to pay again, subject to availability.

If you want to bring your own personal ECV or wheelchair from home, you can do that as well. Another option if you want one that can travel with you is to check out ScooterBug, Disney's featured provider for these types of rentals. ScooterBug can deliver a wheelchair or ECV directly to your resort hotel. That wheelchair or ECV can then travel with you around Walt Disney World including on transportation.

Most of the transportation at Walt Disney World can accommodate wheelchairs and scooters. Do check out the first link in this answer for more specifics on these accommodations.

I hope that this information has helped you with your question, Todd. If you have any further questions, please feel free to come back and ask us here at planDisney!
