I need help finding the best possible vacation plan to Disneyland California

Hey there, Kimberly - thank you for your question and for visiting us here at planDisney!

First off, you and me both! I feel like I'm constantly changing my approach to my family's vacations to the Disneyland Resort. Which attraction should we visit first? (clearly, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance) Which snacks should we eat? (all of them, of course) Which park reservation should we make for each day? (well okay, this one is harder) Do I go left or right when the park opens (go left, but shhhh don't tell anyone else!)

With so many amazing things to experience, it can feel like there are a lot of different questions and details to address, and - if you're like me - it can sometimes lead to a bit of analysis paralysis. I have good news though: there really are no wrong answers here. You will have magical experiences no matter which park you start with, which attraction you visit first, whether or not you grab that treat from Pooh Corner (my go-to treat shop!), or which way you go when the park opens.

Having said that, here are some resources I recommend as you're planning your upcoming vacation:

    • First, I'd recommend you download the Disneyland Mobile App. This is a great tool to link your tickets and get a great overview of all there is to do at the Disneyland Resort during your visit.
    • Second, I'd recommend using the free Genie service through the Disneyland Mobile App! The first time you use it, you'll be asked some preference questions on how you want your vacation to look then it will give you recommendations and can't-miss experiences. On that note, it might be worth considering purchasing the Genie+ service as well. I'm a huge fan of the access it gives to Lightning Lane entries to fit in more attractions, and unlimited PhotoPass downloads to help document your trip.
    • Third, when purchasing your tickets, I typically recommend Park Hopper tickets so that you can visit both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park each day of your trip. You'll make a park reservation for a starting park when purchasing your tickets, but starting Feb 4 you'll be able to switch parks as early as 11 a.m.
    • Disneyland Website Filters: Finally, the "Things To Do" tab on the Disneyland website is a fantastic source of information to get a good idea of what to see, do, and eat on your trip! I especially love using the Attractions and Entertainment page and filtering it based on what my group is interested in. Additionally, my favorite way to pick out a few key snacks to try is keeping tabs on the Disney Parks Blog - especially the Foodie Guide articles!

Keep those questions coming our way, Kimberly! We're as committed as you are to helping your vacation to the Disneyland Resort be absolutely magical! Please come back to see us with any other questions you think of.

    Have a Magical Day,
    Greg
