I need help! We are doing a DCL 7 day W.Caribbean and then we are attaching a 4 day park visit afterwards. We are going in January 2012. I have read the average temps at the parks in Jan and the crusie are very diffferent, how do I pack appropriately?

    Hi Susan,

When I last cruised in the Caribbean on a 7 night voyage and then returned to cooler temps at WDW in Florida, I packed by rolling up shorts and a short sleeve shirt with each pair of denim jeans. You'll want pants for cruise casual nights anyhow.

January temps in Florida can be very variable. It can be hot and it can be freezing cold. I know because we've experienced both extremes and everything in between as we typically vacation at WDW in January.

I would also do the same with capris. Take a pair of capris, then add a pair of shorts and a short sleeve shirt and roll them up together. I use the same technique when traveling just to WDW in months with variable weather so that I can just choose easily between shorts or pants and use the matching shirt. I also pack lightweight sweaters to have on the cruise as the theater and restaurants can be chilly. Re-use these sweaters for your Florida stay. The key is to layer!

It's very possible that you will need sweatshirts and jackets when you return to Florida. Have you considered shipping a box of items to your resort?

I hope this gives you a few ideas. Just remember that you'll only be in Florida for a few days but you will indeed need warmer clothing! Also, watch the forecast before your departure for more accurate temperatures!

    Have a magical vacation!
