Hello Karin, and welcome to planDisney!
I bet you and your grandkids are super excited about the memories you are about to make! You just can’t beat a
Walt Disney World Resort vacation if you ask me!
Let’s talk about how to get to and from the airport. Suppose you do not opt to
rent a car during your stay. In that case, you can utilize the services of one of the smartphone ride-share apps, like Lyft, or reserve ground transportation using the services of companies like Mears Transportation or Sunshine Flyer for an additional fee. Either option will get you to your destination safely.
Speaking of the old FastPass system, it has been replaced with the new
Disney Genie+ service. Disney Genie+ allows you to book a return time to bypass the traditional stand-by line and opt to go through the Lightning Lane. It can be purchased via the My Disney Experience app the day of your visit, or it can be added when you reserve a Walt Disney World vacation package.
When you purchase your
theme park tickets, you will need to make a theme park reservation using the Disney
Park Pass Reservation System. I recommend completing this task as early as possible to ensure you get to visit the theme parks on the days you desire. Purchasing your theme park tickets is easy; just select the ticket options you prefer and the ones that match the age of your grandkids. If they age 10 and above, they will pay the same ticket costs as an adult.
If you currently have
MagicBands in your possession, you will be able to use those for your next vacation; just ensure they are linked to your
My Disney Experience account. If your grandkids do not have any MagicBands, you can purchase them at a discounted rate once your Disney Resort Hotel Reservations are in place.
Please let us know how we can help you continue to plan for an upcoming vacation. We are here if you need us.
Have a magical day!
