While the
Disneyland Resort mobile app certainly isn't a requirement to visit the parks - it certainly helps make visits more convenient in my opinion.
The mobile app offers a quick and easy way to access your theme park ticket for when you're scanning into the park at the entry gate. It also has park maps that can show your exact location if you allow that feature in the settings. This map is really convenient as it has filters if you're looking specifically for dining locations, character meet and greets, retail locations and more. It also gives you the ability to
mobile order food and beverages from many dining locations throughout the parks so you can skip the lines.
If you purchase the
Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you'll use the mobile app to reserve your return times throughout the day. You'll also be able to see any of your
Disney PhotoPass photos that you take during your trip in the app as well.
In my experience, the mobile app helps to make trips run a bit smoother, but I also understand the need to not want to stare at a screen the whole trip! However, with the features it provides, it has made it more convenient during visits and actually frees up time from time I would have otherwise spent in line, staring at a paper map, or similar things.
