Need to make dining reservations on Monday for trip starting 3/8. Calendar open through 3/6. Is it safe to use park calendar for the previous week to plan our park days?

    Hi Amy,

The night before I hit the 180-day mark on my upcoming Disney vacations, you'd think I was preparing for a fantasy football draft. I get all hyped up and go into a frenzied planning mode. Figuring out my dining arrangements is such an adrenaline rush for me!

Great question about forecasting the schedules. The short answer is: unfortunately the prior week's schedule is not always a great indicator of the following week's schedule.

That technique can work when you're looking at a timeframe that's smack-dab in the middle of a particular season (e.g. summer). However, since you'll be traveling right on the front end of the spring break season, the schedule for that following week may be expanded a bit from the prior week's schedule.

Here's a little secret about your buddy Derek:

I've stopped trying to plan my dining arrangements around Extra Magic Hours because that extra layer of planning was starting to stress me out. I'm a bona fide Disney foodie, so nailing down the dining experiences I want is of a higher priority to me than making plans around the Extra Magic Hours.

(I hope somewhere out there, another Disney foodie is standing up and giving me a slow-clap that's straight out of an 80's movie!)

I hope that helps and I hope you're able to lock down all of the dining reservations you're planning for! Please feel free to write back if you should have any additional questions (even if they're not food-related!), and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
