We need to decide between Blizzard and Typhoon. My 7 year old LOVES wave pools. Do both water parks have a wave pool? If so, how do we decide between the two?

    Surf's up, Jaime!

My family practically lives at the Walt Disney World water parks during the summer.  Deciding which one to go to is tough!

Typhoon Lagoon is famous for the Surf Pool, which is home to 6 foot waves.  That's 6 feet ABOVE the normal depth of the pool.  It's pretty amazing to hear the WOOOOSH of the wave as it first comes to sight and then listen to the screams of the excited guests as it rolls over everyone in the water.  I love to swim out to the very end and ride the waves back to shore.  My 6 and 3 year old love standing in the shallow end to get smacked by the waves as they come.  In-between the large waves, you can relax in gentle waves.

Another huge draw at Typhoon Lagoon is Shark Reef, where you can actually swim with the sharks.  This is a saltwater lagoon where you can get an up-close look at sharks, sting rays and beautiful coral.  All ages of guests are invited as long as you are able to float independently.

Blizzard Beach does have a wave pool, Melt-Away Bay, but it isn't anything like the Surf Pool at Typhoon Lagoon.  Melt-Away Bay is relaxing with constant gentle waves.  Tubes are complimentary and can be used in this wave pool.

In my opinion, Blizzard Beach has more thrill type attractions.  The slides are bigger, longer and steeper.  Typhoon Lagoon has thrill slides as well, but not to the same scale.  Take a look at the attractions page for both parks.  Even sit down with your little one see which park appeals to them more.

    Have a kowabunga day!
