Hey there, Jackie! Welcome to planDisney and Welcome Home! I'm so glad that you've stopped by with your Disney Vacation Club question. I'm thrilled to be chatting with a fellow Member!
Like our favorite little French chef, Remy said, "Change is nature." While I hate hearing that you may have to cancel your DVC Resort reservation, unfortunately, it happens sometimes, and I'm happy to hear that you are making sure that you will be able to use your Vacation Points in the future. Points equal magic, so, we don't want a single drop to go to waste!
When you
borrow Vacation Points from one Use Year, they are permanently pulled into the prior Use Year and expire at the end of that new Use Year. That means that if you borrowed Points from your 2024 Use Year to complete a reservation set to occur within your 2023 Use Year, those Points were officially moved into your 2023 Use Year. If you have to cancel your reservation, as long it is done more than 31 days before check-in, the Points will go back into their new Use Year and not their original Use Year from which they were borrowed. But rest assured that the Vacation Points then expire at the end of that Use Year and
not the calendar year.
If you end up having to cancel your reservation, be sure to check "
My Dashboard" or "
My Vacation Points" under the "My DVC" tab on
the DVC website to see where the Points land after cancellation. If you see any issues with how the Points were allocated, just
call DVC Member Services to speak with a super helpful Cast Member.
Jackie, I'm so sorry to hear that your vacation might have to be postponed, but I hope this was helpful for you! Please feel free to stop by any time with any vacation planning or DVC questions you may have along the way. You've got a friend in me!
See ya real soon,
Mandy
