Happiest Greetings on Earth, Jo Anne! I'm so glad you contacted us, and please allow me to welcome you to planDisney!
I'm happy to share with you that generally,
standard tickets to the Disneyland Resort theme parks are not officially assigned to a Guest until they arrive at the turnstiles and a Cast Member takes a photo of them upon their first entry to the theme park. This process officially designates the ticket to the Guest using it, and after that point, it must continue to be used by the same Guest and can no longer be reassigned. So, if you'd like to use a valid, wholly-unused theme park ticket that was originally under your daughter's name, it shouldn't present any problems!
With this in mind, the names originally placed on a ticket are simply to help Guests keep track if they have multiple people in their travel party, and would not necessarily need to match perfectly. However, I completely understand if you'd like to have the name changed to keep everything organized! In this case, please feel welcome to call the
Tickets line and request that the name registered on the ticket be modified accordingly. You could also use the chat function within the
official Disneyland mobile app to make this request.
As you noted, you would need both a valid theme park ticket and a park reservation to be able to enjoy your day in the Disneyland Resort theme parks. First, I suggest that you go ahead and
link the ticket to your MyDisney account online or in the Disneyland mobile app. If the ticket previously had a reservation associated with it, you can
modify the date or cancel it altogether and then
book a new park reservation when you're ready to confirm the date of your visit. Then, you should be able to see your confirmed park reservation listed in "
My Plans."
Jo Anne, I sure hope that this is a helpful start. If we can assist with any other questions you might have in the meantime, I hope you'll feel welcome to drop by
planDisney again.
Blue Skies and Sunshine,
Tishra
