Need a cane for balance when I come to WDW in Jan. Can I use a “hiking” or “trek” pole. Gives me better balance than a cane. It is collapsible.

    Hi Dennis! Welcome to planDisney.

Oh, how I love a January visit to Walt Disney World Resort. Often, after the first week, you can often experience lower crowds with cooler temperatures. Beginning January 13, 2022, you can enjoy the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. This festival features artful fun for the whole family and culinary delights are available from many kiosks.

You are welcome to bring your hiking poles to assist in your mobility. Here is a list of rules that includes a list of prohibited items. Please be aware that theme parks are vast. You can expect in one day to cover many miles on your feet. If you feel mobility will be an issue, you can consider renting a Wheelchair or Electronic Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) at the front of the theme parks. Rentals cannot be taken outside of the theme parks, but you can show your receipt at another park or Disney Springs for another rental on the same day. If you happen to be staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, consider using Disney's Feature Provider, Scootbug for all your mobility rentals. With Scooterbug, Bell Services will accept and return your rental without your presence. The big advantage here is you get to keep your device to use at the resort and on transportation. You can find a link to their website by scrolling through the ECV link I provided above.

As your visit approaches, keep an eye out on the Disney Parks Blog for any announcements about new offerings, events, or policy updates. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your Disney vacation question. We are always here to help.

    Keeping it Magical,
    Cindy
