Welcome to planDisney, Robin!
As Ursula says, "Life's full of tough choices, isn't it?" Sometimes we need to make a less-than-magical decision to cancel an upcoming Disney trip. Rest assured, Mickey and his friends aren't going anywhere. They'll give you an extra big hug when you're finally able to visit
The Most Magical Place on Earth.Robin, for a room-only reservation, you can cancel up to 5 days in advance for a full refund. If you wait until 0-4 days before your trip, you lose the cost of a one-night stay. Sometimes you can cancel room-only reservations online. Simply sign in to your
My Disney Experience account and scroll down to your hotel reservation. If you see an option to "Cancel Reservation" then click that link and you should be able to proceed with your cancellation. If you don't see that option, try calling the
Disney Resort Hotel Reservation team and a Cast Member can do it for you.
When it comes to canceling vacation packages, things a slightly different. Although any policy is subject to change, the Walt Disney World cancelation policy currently states that if you cancel a Disney Resort Hotel Package 30 days or more prior to your arrival, you should expect to receive a full refund. However, if you cancel 29 days to 2 days before your arrival date you will receive a full refund, minus a $200 penalty per room. This includes any theme park tickets you've purchased with your room and ticket package. If you wait to cancel until 1 day or less before your visit then the full package is not refundable. Depending on the exact package you booked (for example, if you booked a third-party hotel), there might be some other cancelation fees that are applicable.
If you booked a vacation package, you can't cancel it online. Instead, you'll have to call the
Disney Resort Hotel Reservation team, where you'll be able to speak to a friendly Cast Member. You can explain your situation to them and they'll do their utmost to serve you.
I hope that's clarifying, Robin. Thanks so much for choosing to be our Guest. Until next time!
Mike
