Hey there, Todd, and welcome to planDisney! Thanks for stopping by the panel with your question! It’s always a great time to visit the Walt Disney World Resort! So even if you can’t make it this time, I hope a visit to the resort is still in your near future! It’s always a little sad when vacation plans have to change, but Walt Disney World does a fantastic job of helping Guests navigate reservation changes.
Todd, your cancellation process will vary depending on the type of reservation you hold. If you booked a
Disney Vacation Package - which includes a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel stay and Theme Park Ticket purchase - you can usually cancel your reservation online through your
My Disney Experience account. You can quickly determine if your reservation is eligible for online cancellation by signing into your My Disney Experience account and reviewing your reservation. If you see a link to “Cancel Reservation,” your cancellation steps can be completed online. If you receive a message displaying a number to call, your reservations must be canceled by speaking with a Cast Member. According to the
resort package Terms and Conditions, if you cancel your reservation 30 days or more before your arrival, you will receive a complete refund. But reservation cancellations inside the 30-day window require a $200 cancellation fee - practically meaning that you won’t receive your deposit back. And if you cancel the day before your arrival, then the full price of your package is non-refundable.
If you booked a
Disney Resorts Collection Hotel Room-Only reservation, you can also review your My Disney Experience account using the process noted above to determine if it is eligible for online cancellation. And with this reservation type, there are no cancellation fees assessed as long as you cancel 5 days or more before your arrival.
Finally, let’s talk about
Theme Park Tickets. Walt Disney World Theme Park Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable, meaning that you cannot cancel them or receive a refund. The good news, however, is that they can be modified if your travel plans change! As long as it is done before your original ticket start date, you can change the dates on your tickets to align with your new plans. You can check your My Disney Experience Account to verify that you are able to move your Theme Park Ticket start date. After logging into your My Disney Experience Account, select the tickets that you would like to edit and choose the “Change” option. You are then able to modify your ticket start dates. Walt Disney World uses date-based pricing for Theme Park Tickets, and changes may require additional funds. If applicable, you will be prompted to pay the difference as you checkout to process the modifications.
I hope this helps, Todd! If you have more questions while planning your Disney Vacation,
stop back by and let me know!
