    Hi Patty,

I have been accused of hauling enough "park gear" to the Disney parks to keep an entire pre-school of children hydrated, fed and well-entertained while waiting in line.  As you can guess, I've gone through many bags in an attempt to discover the perfect one!  In my experience, a well-made backpack, with padded shoulder straps works great, and leaves your hands free to hold onto small children, eat snacks or read a park map.  If you don't want to carry all of your things with you, you can use a locker, which are available to rent in each of the theme parks and water parks.  If, for example, you plan on carrying in snacks or lunch to save on concessions in the parks, you could leave these items in a small, insulated cooler bag in a locker and grab them when you needed them rather than lugging them around all day.  As for what to carry, my pack generally includes a camera, ID, park tickets,  cell phone, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, snacks and water bottles for everyone in my clan.

As for shoes, many folks recommend comfortable sneakers and socks.  I'm a flip-flop girl myself.  If you survey most of the moms on this panel, we all generally agree that whatever you are most comfortable walking in for long distances works best.  You'll see a huge variety of footwear on Disney guests ranging from sneakers, sandals, flip flops, and even heels (hey, whatever works!)  I don't recommend "breaking in" a new pair of shoes in the parks, and I generally carry a few bandaids and some antibiotic ointment just in case of any blisters.

    Have a magical trip!
