Do I need to bring a credit/debit card for the hotel? If I have to, I can’t shop around Walt Disney World.

Welcome to planDisney, Devyn! Your upcoming trip will be here before you know it, and you're asking about two of my very favorite things - shopping and the Walt Disney World Resort! So let's jump into your question!

Devyn, as a Guest at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you will need to have a credit card on file as part of your check-in, but you will not need to leave the physical card with the resort. This can be completed before your arrival through your My Disney Experience account if you select to complete the Online Check-In process; which allows you to skip the front desk entirely and go directly to your resort room when it's ready! Generally, upon check-in, the resort will place a hold on your card for incidental expenses, which will be adjusted upon your check-out. So hakuna matata - no worries - you'll maintain possession of your physical card at all times!

With so much great shopping to be done all around the Walt Disney World Resort, there are also some convenient ways Disney Resort Hotel Guests can charge purchases back to their resort rooms using a MagicBand+ or the Disney Magic Mobile Pass on your eligible device. Don't forget that one of the perks of staying at a Disney Resort Hotel is the opportunity to purchase your MagicBand+ at pre-arrival discounted prices through your My Disney Experience account! I love the convenience and style of these bands, which make tapping into the parks, opening your resort room door, and making purchases a little easier!

Devyn, one last quick tip I'll offer is that you can also use Disney Gift Cards as a form of payment throughout the parks, restaurants, and shops at the Walt Disney World Resort. My family often stocks up on gift cards leading up to our trip, and then we combine them online onto one main gift card to simplify our spending and budgeting. This works well for us, and might be an option to consider if you'd rather not charge back to your resort room! It's also worth mentioning that if you do charge to your room, you can visit the Front Desk of your resort at any time and then pay your balance with a gift card!

I hope this information is helpful as you prepare for some great shopping; I hope you'll find many treasures to commemorate your visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth! Come back anytime if we can help you again!

    See you real soon,
    Alison
