Hey, Eva!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! So you want to get more adventurous and swim with the sharks? Great idea! We had the best experience gliding across the
Shark Reef attraction.
This 60-foot swim over a sunken freighter provides the perfect water playground for a variety of fish and of course, sharks. No need to fear because they are harmless and you are not near them as you swim at the top of the pool.
There is no charge for the basic adventure and it is least crowded in the morning. Just walk to Shark Reef when you are ready to take the plunge. Once at the attraction, a Cast Member will hand you a mask, snorkel and life vest (optional). You will go through a brief tutorial on the equipment then off to your underwater adventure.
If you want a more advanced experience then for a nominal fee you may take the SAS (Supplied-Air Snorkeling) program. Sign up is at Hammer Head Fred’s Dive Shop near the entrance to Shark Reef. You will use a SCUBA regulator attached to a floating oxygen tank as well as a special vest to help you float/sink.
Disney Dad Tip: To capture all your deep sea moments, I suggest bringing a Go-Pro camera or a disposable waterproof camera.
Eva, enjoy making many Magical Memories!
