do we need to book genie pass at time of ticket purchase/park booking?

    Hello, Lily,

All Guests may benefit from the "phenomenal cosmic powers" of the complimentary Disney Genie service, which offers suggestions for attractions, entertainment, dining, and more at the Disneyland Resort within the Tip Board of the Disneyland mobile app. Planned activities and a customized itinerary can then be viewed on the My Genie Day screen of the app.

Guests who wish to unlock even more magic can also purchase the Disney Genie+ service. At the Disneyland Resort, Genie+ provides the following benefits:

    • Discover more of the story and magic of the Disneyland Resort by listening to Audio Tales. It’s like having your own Disney theme parks tour guide in your pocket.
    • In addition to complimentary digital downloads of attraction photos, download all of your Disney PhotoPass photos taken by PhotoPass photographers.
    • Take your selfie game to the next level with Disney PhotoPass Lenses.
    • Enjoy more attractions with less wait time by booking return times to Lightning Lane queues at select attractions. At the Disneyland Resort, you may begin to book Lightning Lane return times only after entering a theme park each day.

There are two different ways to purchase the Disney Genie+ service. You may choose to purchase it at the same time as the original ticket purchase. Or you may use the Disneyland mobile app to purchase Genie+ one day at a time after entering a theme park each day during your visit to the Disneyland Resort. When you pre-purchase Genie+ along with the original ticket purchase, you lock in the lowest available price for the service. The trade-off for pre-purchasing Genie+ with tickets is that it must be purchased for all days of multi-day tickets. Whereas if you wait until after you arrive in the theme parks to purchase Genie+, you may choose to purchase it for only some days of a multi-day visit. So, although there may be some days when the variable pricing of Genie+ is higher, the overall cost could be lower if you don’t expect to use Lightning Lane or other Genie+ services every day you visit the theme parks.

Tony’s Tip: To save some money (probably to enjoy more churros!), some Guests visiting the Disneyland Resort for multiple days may choose to purchase the Disney Genie+ service for only some of the days they visit for all members of their party. But to enjoy the other benefits of Genie+, especially the digital downloads of all Disney PhotoPass photos each day, they can still choose to purchase Genie+ for one of the tickets of their party every day. In such situations, I recommend being consistent in purchasing Genie+ for the ticket belonging to the main planner of the group using the account that purchased that ticket. That way, only one account will be needed to access and download all of the photos within 45 days after the photos were taken.

I hope you have a most magical time visiting the Disneyland Resort, Lily!
