Welcome, Thomas, to planDisney. The spirits have received your sympathetic vibrations and will guide you on your way!
It's just a fact of life that plans change. Unless you're
Madame Leota with her crystal ball, you can't know what the future holds, so it's always good to know your options. The spirits may not be able to materialize an answer for us, but I certainly can! So, let's go through some of your options so you can make the most informed decision possible!
If you purchased a vacation package (
Disney Resorts Collection Hotel room reservation
and theme park tickets booked together) through the Walt Disney Travel Company, you can typically cancel without penalty if you're canceling 30 or more days before your arrival date, minus any third-party charges that you may have added. If canceled between 29 and 1 day before arrival, you'll typically lose your deposit. If canceled less than a day before arrival or if you're a no-show, you will typically not receive a refund. So there's no need to send a message from somewhere beyond. Just keep those
terms and conditions in mind!
To cancel, simply click "My Plans" on the top menu of the site, find your reservation, and see if there's a "Modify Reservation" or "Cancel Reservation" option. If so, click that and follow the prompts. If not, you won't need to call on the spirits from regions beyond, but you may need to
call a friendly Cast Member on the Tickets and Hotel Reservations line at the resort. And don't skip out on that "Modify Reservation" option. Check to see if the changes you want to make are options before fully canceling.
If you purchased theme park tickets and a resort room reservation separately, there are some differences in the cancellation policies that you should note.
Theme Park Tickets are nonrefundable and nontransferable, so while you will not receive a refund, you can typically apply the amount of money you paid for your original tickets to another ticket purchase. If your new tickets are more expensive, you'd be responsible for the difference at the time of purchase. If they're less expensive, you will not receive a refund for the difference. When it comes to hotel room-only reservations, you can usually receive a full refund if you cancel 8 days or more prior to check-in. If you cancel 7 days or less before check-in, you will typically forfeit your deposit. And, before your plans join the happy haunts for a swinging wake, keep in mind that any third-party fees or add-ons may have separate cancellation policies.
Thomas, I hope I've helped your options materialize a little more clearly! Whatever the crystal ball holds for your plans, I hope you'll be the 1,000th happy haunt joining us at the
Walt Disney World Resort very soon. If you have any other questions, you don't have to send us a message from somewhere beyond. Just reach out to me, and
I'll be happy to summon up another answer!
Hurry back,
Matt
