Need advice on picking between Polynesian and Grand Floridian. 4 adults and a 5yr old. Traveling for a week in Dec for his 6th bday. 1st trip. If $$ isn't an option where do we get the most bang for our buck. Amenities, convenience, etc. Help!!

Hi Perry! It is nice to have such a wonderful choice between resorts. I can say that you will get a great vacation experience at either one but I do have an idea for which is good for you!

For your group I would definitely choose the Grand Floridian resort. It is considered the premier resort on property and home to the fabulous Victoria and Alberts restaurant. The decor and buildings are fabulous and the decor is elegant but not over the top so you still can feel comfortable with children. Service is generally outstanding since many long time cast members ask to work there.

You will have an abundant amount of dining choices at this resort too and some are my absolute favorites. All except Victoria and Alberts are children friendly too. Citricos is a family favorite and we also love Narcoossees and especially the location out on the water. Then you also can choose from the Grand Floridian Cafe and 1900 Park Fare which includes a wonderful character breakfast for your little one. You can have high tea at the Garden View Lounge and get 24 hour food through Gasparilla Grill where there is also an arcade.

The pools are beautiful and the location in general is one of the best with views from some rooms of the Magic Kingdom. At night my family enjoys sitting in the main lobby to hear the pianist and the orchestra play. The younger kids seem to enjoy just playing around the wide open spaces as you relax.

This resort has a nice marina with the normal boat rentals available. Add to that the opportunity to rent the exquisite Grand One yacht. We have enjoyed this experience a few times and it is out of this world. The yacht itself is beautiful and comes with a pilot and a "butler". You can add dinner or just desserts of appetizers with drinks. You can choose how long you wish to cruise the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay lake while watching the fireworks. Yes, my choice is definitely Grand Floridian for your vacation!
