Need advice! Which one, BCR or AKL for 10/2018 vacation with DH, DS(9), and DD(6)? Interested in animals, pirates (including pirate adventure cruise), swimming and pool play, and visiting each theme park twice (with two off-days). Planning on DDP. Thanks!

Hi, Jen! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Having recently done a split-stay at three Disney Resort hotels that included both Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, I am so happy that I can offer my totally biased, yet I hope helpful insight! If a split-stay is not an option for your family, then my vote goes to Disney’s Beach Club Resort and here’s why:

-You said swimming. Disney’s Beach Club Resort has Stormalong Bay which is practically a water park of its own! There is a lazy river, HUGE slide, sand bottom beach, amazing pool bar and quick service location right by the pool!

-The Albatross Treasure Cruise, one of the Pirate Adventure Cruises for the younger swashbucklers is offered here.

-Transportation and proximity to Disney Theme Parks. You can walk to Epcot, take a ferryboat to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the bus system to fantastic to get to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and Magic Kingdom Park. You could also walk to Epcot and then hop on the Monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center to board the Monorail to Magic Kingdom.

Although I love Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, I prefer Disney’s Beach Club Resort mainly for convenience and the pool area!

I hope this helps you make your decision and that you come and visit us again soon!
