Need advice. Comparing POR and AoA - other than price, access to buses & how often they occur, food court, layout, pools, location from parks, room size for 2 adults & DD. Thoughts appreciated! Thanks.

    Hi Judy,

You seem to have done your research. If you want more, I'll point you to two articles on independent websites. Head to blog.touringplans.com and search for "Staying at the Art of Animation Resort" and to disneyfoodblog.com and search for "Food Photo Tour: Art of Animation Landscape of Flavors Food Court." With that info under your belt, you'll have a pretty thorough idea of what to expect at AoA.

Overall, I'd say that the two main differences that would impact your family are the room configuration and the overall resort atmosphere. I assume that if you're looking at AoA that you're considering a family suite. If so, the big difference between this and POR is that the suites have two distinct rooms and two bathrooms. When I'm traveling with my children, having two rooms makes my vacation a MUCH better place to be. I love that my husband and I don't have to tiptoe around as much when the kids go to sleep. We're not forced to go to bed when the kids go to bed. Also, having two bathrooms makes getting ready in the morning run more quickly and gives everyone an extra measure of privacy.

The other main difference is the overall atmosphere. POR is fairly refined and relaxed feeling, with manicured grounds and lush plantings. AoA is all about bold cartoon color. Also, everything at AoA is brand new. You're unlikely to encounter any problems with functionality because it's all fresh and relatively unused.

Another thing to think about is that if you want to stroll in the evening, from POR you can walk to POFQ and from AoA you can walk to Pop Century. If you want to check out other resorts, this may play a factor. Also POR has more recreation opportunities on site that AoA. POR has fishing, biking, and boating available, as well as boat access to Downtown Disney, while AoA has none of these.
