Do we need actual water shoes while on Castaway Cay? I've heard the sand is nice and soft, but wondered if it was rocky while walking in the water.

    Hi Kelli!

You are going to LOVE Castaway Cay!  My family and I have often said that if Disney Cruise Line offered a 7 night cruise just parked there we would book it in a heartbeat!  It's so beautiful, there is so much to do and see it's unbelievable.

The sand in the water is really pretty soft.  My kids have gone in with and without water shoes.  They've never complained either way.    I will tell you though that the water shoes are a lot better for walking on the sand because they offer pretty good traction.  If you have shoes that already provide that, don't worry about the water shoes.  You won't have any trouble with rough spots in the water.  We never have.

Please let me know if I can answer any other questions for you Kelli.  Have a magical trip!

Magic Kingdom still takes my breath away, but my favorite place to be is on a Disney ship looking at the horizon and breathing in that crisp, clean ocean air!  I love planning Disney vacations for others and making sure it's more than they dreamed. Learn More About Marisol
