Is it necessary to do a character dining experience in order to dine with the characters? Do you get to spend anymore time with the characters by paying the extra price for the dining experience?

    Hi Jennifer,

There are many opportunities to meet the characters outside of character meals.  You'll find characters throughout each of the theme parks, that are available for autographs and photos.  They are easy to spot, because they are generally "surrounded" by a group of adoring fans!  (Don't worry, Cast Members that accompany the characters help the guests form an orderly line and wait for their turn to meet the "stars".)  One of the best ways to see the characters is by visiting one of several "one stop shopping" character "meet and greets" inside the parks.  My favorite is at Epcot at the "Character Connection" located at the Innoventions West Pavilion.  Here, by waiting on one, indoor, air-conditioned line, you can get your "moment" with some of Disney's most beloved characters, including Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale and Donald.  There are Disney PhotoPass Photographers available to take pictures of your family with either their or your own camera.  You'll have plenty of time with each character to have a photo (or two or three) taken and get some autographs.  At Magic Kingdom, Toontown is "the" place to meet characters in my opinion.  At the Toontown Hall of Fame, you can wait inside on one of two air-conditioned, lines to meet your choice of Princesses or Fairies.  At Judge's Tent, you can wait to meet the "Big Cheese" himself (aka - Mickey).  At Hollywood Studios, you'll find Buzz Lightyear and Woody at "Al's Toybarn", located directly across from the Toy Story Mania attraction.  At the Greeting Trails at Camp Minnie-Mickey at Animal Kingdom, you'll generally find Mickey, Minnie and Goofy.

These are just a few examples of places throughout the parks you can find and spend some quality time with the characters of your choice.  As you can see, there are many, many opportunities to meet your Disney favorites.  Character meals are great, but in no way the only way to say hi to your Disney pals.

    Have a wonderful trip!
