Are there any NEA or teacher discounts at Disney ?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Tana!

It's a pleasure to answer a question from a fellow educator. I have been a high school science and history teacher for 18 years. What age group do you teach?

I'm delighted to report that the Walt Disney World Swan Resort and Walt Dolphin World Dolphin Resort do offer a discount on guest rooms for teachers. Yippee! On their home page, they note that teachers can call 1-888-828-8850 to book a room at one of these two resorts at a discounted rate. Just ask for the "teacher rate" when you call. I booked one of these discounted rooms a few years ago and had a lovely stay. The location of these resorts is exceptional as you can take a leisurely walk or a delightful boat ride to either Epcot or Disney's Hollywood Studios. (By the way, if you have any friends who are nurses, they have a discount for them too.)

If you happen to be traveling with a school group to Walt Disney World or Disneyland, the Disney Youth Office has an exceptional deal on theme park tickets for students enrolled in Youth Education Series programs. Not only are the student tickets offered at a deeply discounted rate (when you are traveling with at least 10 students), but two teachers who accompany the group get FREE theme park tickets. It is an exceptionally generous courtesy that Disney offers visiting teachers. As an educator, I have always felt appreciated by Disney, and this is just tangible evidence of the company's support of the work we do.

If you have any further questions that a fellow teacher may be able to answer, please feel free to send them.

    Best wishes,
    Jill
