Hi Danielle,
Welcome to planDisney!
Thank you for stopping by with a great question. Although neither of our girls requires a dye free diet, one of them has four significant food allergies, including soy protein which, we discovered, appears in a lot of food items. My first suggestion to you would be to review the
Special Dietary Requests information. If this is a medically restrictive diet for your child or you have a number of other dietary challenges, please do
email them in advance. Typically they ask that we do not contact them sooner than 14 days prior to arrival.
We always make
advanced dining reservations and note the food allergies (if your child's are not listed, there should be an option for Other that you can check). When we are at the Walt Disney World Resort, we use
Mobile Dine Check-in when we can and, during that process, we also note any allergies or dietary restrictions. Once we are at the restaurant, the cast members who serve us always discuss the dietary requests and ask if we would like to speak with a chef.
Of course, you may not always be able to do advanced dining reservations. While we have navigated Quick-Service dining locations, I would suggest that you visit the restaurant and speak with a cast member before doing
Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering. Once you get familiar with a few places, you will have a better idea of what your child can order and will actually enjoy. And, of course, when in stores buying snacks, we always read the ingredient list on the packaging. After several visits, our girls now have a list of their go-to and safe snacks to eat.
Danielle, I hope this helps! I will say that we love the way Disney has handled our daughters' food allergies. We always speak with a chef when possible and they have been able to offer other food options if there is nothing on the menu that the girls can eat (this is rare, but has happened). Now, I hope you are packing - your arrival date is in a week!!!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
