My name was legally changed but my Disney hotel reservation and ticket reservation has my old name. Can I get that changed or is it okay if I bring my divorce decree and old and new ID?

    Hi Kelly,

Welcome to planDisney and thank you for asking us a question!

Several of my friends have had their names change between when they booked their trip to Walt Disney World Resort and when they arrive in Florida to start their vacation. You can change the name associated with your My Disney Experience account at any time by clicking on the “profile” link, which is right beside the character icon you’ve chosen. Click on "Account Settings" and the option to change your personal information should pop up. That said, this will only change your online profile name and not the name in which your reservations have been made.

You have two options: first, you can contact Walt Disney World Resort and explain the situation. They might be able to change your Disney Resorts Collection hotel reservation to reflect your new name. If it isn’t possible, when you check in, please have your old and new identification along with a good quality picture of your divorce decree available to show the Cast Member who will be assisting you.Of course, if you opt in to Direct-to-Room Service, you may not even need to visit the front desk in order to show them your identification, so this may not even be an issue for you!

As for your Theme Park Tickets, if your tickets are already linked to your My Disney Experience account, you may just be able to just tap your Method of Entry at the gate and then walk right on in to start your Disney Day. If you need to visit a Ticket Window in order to activate your tickets, just have your old and new identification and the picture of your decree available to show the Cast Member, if required. If you do call to modify your hotel reservation, you can also speak to the Cast Member who will be assisting you about whether you need to activate your tickets before visiting your first Theme Park.

I hope my answer helps you iron out any wrinkles with your Disney Parks vacation! Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
