Hi Eli,
Thank you for bringing your question to planDisney about assisting your wife when you visit Magic Kingdom in just a few days. I am happy to help you make a plan for visiting "The Most Magical Place on Earth"!
First, here is a link for a
Guide for Guests with Disabilities for Magic Kingdom. If you open the link to the Guide, look on the left-hand side and you will see it noted that courtesy wheelchairs are available to use from the accessible parking lot to transport Guests to and from the nearest wheelchair/ECV rental area. These courtesy wheelchairs are for use to and from the rental area and not for use inside the theme park itself. Once you are parked, you can ask a friendly Cast Member for assistance in locating a courtesy wheelchair to transport your wife to the ECV rental area.
Eli, I want you to know that ECV rentals inside the theme parks are very popular so you should plan on arriving as early as possible, so they are not all rented by the time you get there. Whenever I am planning on being at a theme park at its opening time, I try to be at the entrance at least 30 minutes before I am allowed inside. Here is another link for the
Hours & Events Calendar for Magic Kingdom so you can see what time you will be allowed inside. As soon as you enter you should head over to the
ECV Rental area for the best chance of having an ECV available.
One final piece of information that I want to share with you to help you plan your Magical day is to let you know that Disney has mapped out
Attraction Access Categories so your wife will know which attractions she will be able to stay on her ECV and which ones she will need to transfer to a ride vehicle. The friendly Cast Members at the attraction will be there to answer any questions if you are unsure about any of the attractions.
Have a Magical visit and please let us know if you have any more vacation planning questions.
See Ya Real Soon,
Brenda
