Hi, myself and my partner have upgraded to the Dining Plan for our summer 2020 visit. Neither of us are big on desserts but love our alcoholic beverages - as most alcoholic drinks are cheaper than the desserts do you think any restaurant will swap?

    Hi Chloe!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I think that a visit to Walt Disney World Resort sounds like a fantastic idea any time of year, but I'm excited (and kind of jealous) for your Summer 2020 trip as there are so many new attractions and restaurants opening in the next few months, and that isn't including the entire new land of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Keep an eye out on this nifty "What's New" list, and I'm counting on you writing us back and letting us know what you think!

Disney Dining Plans are a wonderful addition to an already magical vacation. Not only when looking at the convenience and the value, but often having a dining plan forces me to step out of my comfort box of tried and true Disney dining locations. Regardless of which meal entitlement you are redeeming, either a Quick or a Table-Service, or which meal of the day, substitution requests can usually be fulfilled, but they aren't a guarantee. I almost always find success in when sticking to the same category, like wanting to swap the included side item for one listed on another dish, ex: macaroni & cheese instead of corn. However, when asking to substitute a dessert for an appetizer, alcoholic beverage or even an additional portion of a side item, that decision is up to each individual restaurant.

Pro Tip: When inquiring at each dining reservation about the potential swap, say the name or make up of the specific drink you had in mind instead of the broad term "alcoholic beverage." This might help your request because then the decision maker knows what exactly you want instead of automatically saying no out of the fear that if given permission, you'd order the tallest, most booze filled drink there. (Which absolutely sounds like something I would do.)

I hope this helped, Chloe, and We'll See You Real Soon!
