Myself, husband and 3 kids (10, 8, 3), will be staying at CBR late March. I booked a water view pirate room, but am now having doubts due to the location of those themed rooms. Do you think we are better off with just a preferred room closer to the main?

    Hi Crystal,

I've stayed at Caribbean Beach Resort and completely understand your concern about room location. Here's the deal: This is a very large resort complex. Many of the Villages (including Trinidad South where the Pirate themed rooms are located) are a considerable distance from the Old Port Royale (OPR). OPR is the main activities area with restaurants, shops, arcade, bike/boat rentals and the large themed pool. The walk between OPR and Trinidad South (and other distant rooms) is pleasant, but can be take up to 15 minutes. The resort does provide an Internal Shuttle which comes approximately every 15 minutes, so walking isn't required. I will say that when I stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort, I got tired of waiting for the bus so I walked from Aruba to the food court. While it was a pretty walk, that sentiment quickly disappeared when I was doing it in the rain one morning.

If my family were to stay at this particular resort again, we would absolutely book a preferred room simply because location makes a big difference to us. However, that being said, I would book a Pirate themed room in a heartbeat and deal with the distance from the pool & food court if I had a little pirate fan. The Pirate themed rooms are very, very cool. If your kids are really into pirates and you think they would love the room enough that it wouldn't matter how long it would take to get pancakes in the morning...then stick with the room you've booked. The rooms truly are "super cool" and are something that your child would remember forever.

Not knowing your family, I can only lay out the whole picture. Ultimately, I recommend keeping the Pirate room IF your kids are really into pirates. Otherwise, I would switch to a preferred room.

Hope this helps and have a wonderful vacation,
