Myself, DS14 and DD11. Plan to visit Epcot 12/10-11. Would like to try different types of foods during that time, is it possible to say snack around the world or are we limited to meals with reservations? 12/8-12/18, suggest on bday celeb. for myself &

    Donna:

Epcot provides the perfect atmosphere to "snack around the world!"  Not only does each country have their own table-service restaurant that, yes, I would recommend reservations for, but they also have counter service locations--perfect for what you're wanting to experience!

Enjoy a basket of fish & chips in London and eclairs in France.  Dip into tasty hummus in Morroco then let a bite of the American Pavilion's funnel cake melt in your mouth!  If you want to do a little bit of planning ahead, I'd recommend visiting www.allears.net and clicking on Dining at the top of their home page. They provide all of the menus for the counter service locations in Epcot to help you plan your tasting!

For a memorable birthday, I'd have to recommend California Grill with its incredible view of not only the Magic Kingdom but almost all of the Disney campus!  Time your dinner with viewing the fireworks from its balcony to cap off your special night.  And did I mention the food is wonderful?!  If you're looking for something more economical, our older kids love Teppan Edo's chef entertainment, too.

You may want to consider ordering a custom cake for your celebration after you've chosen your restaurant by calling the cake hotline (dial 407-827-2253 and give them at least 48 hours notice).  In my opinion, by the time you would order dessert for everyone from the restaurant's menu, you could splurge on a cake to make the occasion more festive!

And if you're gonna order a cake, don't settle for the ready-made 6-inch cake. With just a little more notice you can go custom!  The custom cakes begin at $21 plus tax and 18% gratuity if it's served at a restaurant.  My favorite cake (for flavor and fun) is the Mickey Head cake for $48, and serves about 12 people, easy.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation and a pixie-dusted birthday!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
