Leanne from Hawkes Bay Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Hi! Me and my mum are coming to WDW in October. As I have the main profile with her own ticket linked in - if we get a magic band each, both linked to that profile, are they going to work? Would it be easier if she had her own profile and account?

Hey Howdy Hey Leanne, welcome to planDisney! Thank you for stopping by with your excellent question. I'm thrilled to assist you! Linking plans must mean you're gearing up for a trip to Walt Disney World Resort! You are sure to make awesome memories at The Most Magical Place on Earth!

Each Guest can either have their own My Disney Experience account or an account profile managed by another person. You will be able to view and make plans with other members of your party once you're connected as Friends and Family. You can link MagicBands to anyone that appears on your Family and Friends list; however, you can only manage MagicBands for those whose account profiles you manage.

Though your mom does not need to create her own My Disney Experience account to link a MagicBand, I highly recommend that she does, if possible. By creating her own account, you can easily share all plans with her. Once she has her account, add her to your Friends & Family list, and then link your accounts on her device. This setup will allow you to manage all your plans, including reservations, from your account while still sharing and coordinating everything, including linking MagicBands and tickets, with her.

I find the easiest way to connect to the accounts of friends and family members is by using your Linking Code. To find your Linking Code, tap on the 3 horizontal lines on the bottom right of the My Disney Experience app. Scroll to the bottom of the screen then under Disney Account, tap “Profile.” Next, tap “Show My Linking Code.” The app will then prompt you with a warning explaining what the linking code is. Once someone scans your Linking Code, you’ll be added to their Friends & Family list. Next tap “Show My Linking Code.” The app will then create a unique linking code. There’s a QR version as well as a manual code that your friends and family can type in.

If your mom wants to scan a linking code to connect to you (or you want to scan hers) - tap on the three horizontal lines to the bottom right of the My Disney Experience app. Select “Profile” and then “Friends & Family List.” You’ll then scroll down to where it says “Add a Guest.” Follow the prompts to Scan her Linking Code. You’ll scan her linking code when she has it up on her phone, or you can manually enter the code. That's it!

Leanne, I hope you find this information helpful as you prepare for an exciting visit to Walt Disney World Resort! Thank you again for visiting planDisney. Have a magical day!
