Hi from MTL :) I'm planning my trip to the Disney World for a week in mid-May. How is the weather like during the time? I don't wanna miss any of the firework & parades at the parks! Also, do you have any recommendations for restaurants/events?

    Hi Andrew,

Welcome to planDisney and thank you for asking us a question, my fellow Montrealer. It’s lovely to meet you!

So, I’ll let you in on a little secret, now that we’re friends… May is my favourite time of year to visit Walt Disney World Resort, weather-wise! There is beautiful sunshine, fewer mid-day rain showers and the humidity is far less present than in the peak summer months.

The other reason why I love visiting in May is because of one of my favourite EPCOT Festivals, the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival! I just love seeing beautiful flower and gardening displays, walking around an actual butterfly garden, jammin’ out at the Garden Rocks concert series and devouring the tasty treats at the Outdoor Kitchens around World Showcase. It really is a feast for all of your senses, so I highly recommend spending at least a day walking around EPCOT and enjoying all that this Festival has to offer.

And don’t forget to book a Garden Rocks Dining Package if you want to get guaranteed seating for the show, along with a memorable meal at one of EPCOT’s many amazing restaurants. My family’s favourite is probably the Coral Reef Restaurant (my kiddo loves watching the fishies float by) but I was also really thrilled with our meal at La Hacienda de San Angel on our last trip. That said, you really can’t go wrong with any of EPCOT’s dining locations, so be sure to check out the various menus to see whether there’s a restaurant that really strikes your fancy.

As for restaurants, if you want to combine fireworks viewing with a memorable meal, my two favourite restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort lately have been California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera at Disney’s Riviera Resort. There, you can not only indulge in an amazing dining experience, but you can also conclude your night with a prime view of the nighttime spectaculars at Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT, respectively. Although these are both Signature Dining locations, which means that eating there is definitely a splurge, I think that they’re both entirely worth the price; the food, atmosphere and view are all absolutely spectacular!

I hope my answer has given you lots of ideas for your May trip. As always, please don’t hesitate to come back and see me if you have more questions! Et n’oubliez pas que vous pouvez également me poser des questions en français!

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
