I have MS and in 2014 was unable to attend the park for 2 days of my week vacation because of fatigue and heat exhaustion. We are planning on going this April and I’m concerned the same thing will happen again. Does this qualify me for DAS?

    Hi Ana,

Thank you for stopping by planDisney with a question!

We definitely do not want you to have another experience like the one in 2014! While those of us with planDisney cannot officially determine if you qualify for the Disability Access Service (DAS), it does sound like you may have a disability that makes it difficult for you to stand in a traditional line. To determine if you may qualify for DAS, you will need to actually use the pre-registration chat feature. You can also register in the parks, but I suggest you try to register prior to arrival. You can pre-register 30 to two days before arrival.

If you are able to pre-register, you can also take advantage of the DAS advanced planning feature for up to two attractions per day that you have valid theme park admission. Just be sure to review the attractions that are eligible for advanced planning. As you make those advanced selections, remember to consider your other plans for the day. If my family has an advanced DAS selection that conflicts partially with an advanced dining reservation, for example, I will consider whether or not we can finish dining and make it to the advanced selection before the time window expires. If I think we can make it, I will go ahead and make that advanced selection.

So, make a note on your calendar to pre-register. Pre-registration currently requires a video call. If there are other guests that are traveling with you, make sure they are connected to your Family & Friends List in My Disney Experience and they have valid theme park admission for the dates of your visit. Once you are pre-registered, the cast member can link other guests to your DAS. The cast member will confirm the number of additional guests they can link. When we have used DAS on prior trips, the person assigned the DAS has been allowed five additional guests. Once you are in the parks, you can also make one additional DAS selection. I call this a "rolling" DAS because once you have done that attraction, you can make another DAS selection and you can continue this throughout the day.

Ana, I am sorry that I cannot tell you whether or not your condition qualifies for DAS, but I can say that you should definitely go through the pre-registration process. DAS has certainly helped my family tremendously as we navigated the theme parks. Remember to set a reminder on your calendar 30 days in advance. I would definitely not wait to do it until two days in advance because advanced selections might be much more limited!

    Magic and memories,
