Hi from another MS mom! My ? is, we are bring my 3yo and 1yo in July...which type of double stroller is better? front & back or side by side.?? I know we will have 1 diaper bag and a soft cooler with snacks.

    Sarah:

To me, the side-by-side allows each child better views and has more storage that you can easily access.  But the answer may simply come down to what time of year you're traveling:  a front & back double stroller is better at handling crowds during busier seasons of the year....

But some other things you may want to consider:
    • Disney transportation.  Folding them up for bus and monorail transportation is mandatory.  Which is easier for you?
    • Travel Storage.  Whether you're driving or flying, they'll take up major space.  Either will need to be checked.
    • Storage in your resort guest room.  Many folks don't consider how much room a large stroller takes up in your room, especially at the Value Resorts.  You'll know better which one takes up less floor space.
    Two alternatives to the doubles:
    1. Bring two single umbrella strollers.  Good idea if you've got someone else who can help take both down.  I've seen many guests clip them together to make a side-by-side.  They don't provide the storage of the doubles and most won't fold back for naps, but they make for easier storage on the bus and in the room, and they can fit in some overhead plane compartments.
    2. Rent from Disney. You won't have to worry about hauling it down in the car (or plane), folding it up on the bus (or worse, the monorail) or lugging it on the train at Magic Kingdom.  (The downside: by the end of the week I could have bought a brand-new, top-of-the line stroller!)
Some things to ponder for sure, but if you don't have the budget to rent, have the space to pack, and are visiting during Value Season, your own double side-by-side would be my first choice.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
