Mrs. B -  We are planning to take our kids to Disney for the 1st time from Dec 28 - 30, 2013. We are staying at the Contemporary and have res. for Chef Mickey but any must dos for a 4 & 1 yr old

Hi Bethany! You will be going to Disney during an exciting time as the holidays are always special between the entertainment and the decorations. You will love the Contemporary and the location close to the Magic Kingdom and on the monorail loop!

Chef Mickey is always my recommendation for a good character dining experience so I'm glad to see you have that locked in for the trip. Please remember that because this is a holiday the parks will be crowded and dining will be busy so get as many reservations as you think you will want during these days.

Considering the ages of the children the Magic Kingdom will likely be your primary park. Lines will be long so get Fastpasses whether it is through the new system Fastpass+ or the current method. Be sure and see the Magic Kingdom parade and fireworks one night. If you can add to your budget a fireworks cruise is a great way to enjoy both without crowds. You would get a boat all to yourself and it includes snacks and drinks.

Other park choices would be Animal Kingdom next and then Epcot. If you hit Animal Kingdom be sure and see the Lion King show and take the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch. In Epcot don't miss Turtle Talk With Crush and perhaps Imagination since you have young ones.

Dining thoughts include Be Our Guest but I would suggest you attempt to get in at lunch over dinner. Columbia Harbour House is my favorite quick service location in the Magic Kingdom. The Plaza and Liberty Tree Tavern are our favorite table service spots.

If you want a quiet afternoon head by boat over to Fort Wilderness where you can enjoy a pony ride, Disney stables, carriage rides, and Chip and Dales Campfire Singalong! So much to do and so little time!
