I am moving out of state in 2 months and cannot afford to keep paying for my magic key. Is there a way to cancel my pass and payments?? If not and I am stuck with it can I possibly transfer it to Walt Disney World (I will be moving close to Florida)

    Hi there, Erika,

Wow! Sounds like big changes are coming to you. I’m happy to share what I know to, hopefully, help make your transition as smooth as possible.

Options for resolving a 12-month payment contract for a Disneyland Resort Magic Key pass might include paying off the remainder of your balance at once or simply continuing with the existing payment plan until it is paid in full. Since Magic Key passes are not automatically renewed, you won’t be obligated to make payments on another 12-month contract if you elect not to renew.

According to the Disneyland Resort Magic Key Terms and Conditions, passes are nonrefundable and nontransferable. So, unfortunately, there isn’t a way to convert a Magic Key pass to a Walt Disney World Resort Annual Pass. To handle the specifics of your situation, the best resource to engage is the phone line for Magic Key holders.

Everyone’s situation is unique, of course. But in case it helps to consider new possibilities, I’ll share how I make use of my own Magic Key pass. As an out-of-state visitor to the Disneyland Resort, I don’t get opportunities to visit the theme parks as often as locals might. So my family and I tend to treat each visit to the Disneyland Resort almost as if it is our first. We review Disney Parks Blog posts about the latest Disneyland Resort news, double-check available discounts, and scan restaurant menus in the Disneyland mobile app to plan our meals. By planning our visits to experience new things while still leaving enough flexibility to spontaneously enjoy the magic of the resort, we find significant value and enjoyment in our passes even with less frequent visits.

Erika, for you, it would seem “adventure is out there!” I wish you the best as you see what’s around the river bend for you.

    See ya real soon,
    ~Tony
