I just moved to CA and filled out the paperwork for a CA license. I’m not sure if I’ll have a CA photo ID by the time the passes go on sale. Will this be an issue? What type of payment methods are accepted for monthly payments: credit card, debit card?

Hi there, Ellie. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. Welcome to the West Coast! We're glad you're here! I love that you're embracing the Southern California lifestyle by becoming a Disneyland Magic Key holder. It is sure to unlock lots of magic.

Ellie, there are a couple of steps you want to be sure of before Magic Key sales resume in November. First, you will need a MyDisney account to purchase a Magic Key pass online. Then, to see the monthly payment option and/or to purchase an Imagine Key (SoCal resident-exclusive), you'll need to have a California address in your MyDisney account. Lastly, you will need a California billing address for the card you'd like to use for your Magic Key down payment and monthly payment. You are welcome to use a credit or debit card for the transaction, just be sure that the debit card has a Visa or Mastercard logo for a seamless transaction. Please be aware that you cannot change the payment date for Magic Key monthly payments, so if you are using a debit card be sure to account for this.

You should be able to purchase your Magic Key without your government-issued photo ID on hand. However, you will need to have it with you as you activate your Magic Key at the Main Entrance Booth on the day of your first theme park reservation. A Cast Member will likely confirm your California address, especially if you have an Imagine Key. You should also have your photo ID on you whenever you use one of the Magic Key discounts on parking, merchandise, and food.

For more information, check out the Magic Key Buying Guide on the Disneyland Resort website. You will also want to familiarize yourself with the Magic Key blockout dates for your pass by visiting the Magic Key Access Calendar. My top tip, Ellie, is to book your Magic Key theme park reservations well in advance to avoid missing a date you'd like to visit!

I hope this information helps prepare you for purchasing a Magic Key. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I'm always happy to help a (soon-to-be) fellow Magic Key holder!

    See ya real soon,
    Melissa
