Hi Kathryn,
I'm so happy to hEAR you are considering a Disney cruise. It's definitely an amazing way to explore various destinations...and one of the best parts is only having to unpack once! Not to mention the fabulous food, exceptional service,
Broadway-quality shows, and special memory making moments with favorite Disney characters.
Getting ready to set sail requires a lot of preparation, from making a
packing list to booking
Port Adventures. The excitement of ocean life also brings the possibility of some turbulent waters. I am prone to motion sickness and somewhat sensitive to the motion of the ocean, but thankfully it has never been a big issue for me on any of my Disney Cruise Line vacations. The beauty of cruise ships using modern technology is knowing where possible stormy waters are and sailing to avoid them.
However, it's impossible to say you will never encounter motion sickness while at sea. So the key is to be prepared! I pack sea bands that focus on pressure points to relieve queasiness. Second, I travel with medications like Bonine or Dramamine and they really work well. You could also talk to your doctor about prescribing motion sickness patches. I have friends who have used these patches with great success, so much so that they do not cruise without them! Finally, there's a
Health Center onboard that carries over-the-counter medications and could assist you if you develop motion sickness.
Wishing you fair winds and following seas so hopefully there is no reason for any rough waters at all! Cruise back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel as you plan your adventure at sea. We'd love to help!
Happy Sailing!
Sherry
