Jamie from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

My mother-in-law just informed me she wants to join us on our Disneyland trip. We have dining reservations 3x during our trip for 5 people. Will we be able to add a 6th on the day of our dining reservations for her to join us?

Well hello Jamie! Welcome back to planDisney! I'm so excited you've stopped by to ask a few more questions regarding your upcoming trip. Please let me say congratulations to you on your bachelor's degree! What an achievement and I can't think of a better place to celebrate that!

I think you will be happy to know that I believe you should be just fine with your current dining reservations even though you will now have your mother-in-law in addition to your original reservation number. I was in the parks recently and had two reservations for the day. When it is your reservation time you will be able to check in on the Disneyland app. It will walk you through a couple of questions. The first one is letting them know your party mix (how many adults, children, infants). When I did this it said we may add one additional guest. Of course, this could change but usually, one extra person is not a problem. The other questions are about mobility accessibility, dietary requests, and if you are celebrating anything. Be sure to let them know you are celebrating your accomplishments!

Once you are scanned into Disneyland park, be sure to take a quick stop at City Hall before you head down Main Street, U.S.A. There you can grab a complimentary celebration button!

I hope you have Park Hopper tickets because Lunar New Year festivities just kicked off and there is much fun to be had. Be sure to head into Disney California Adventure Park to see the entertainment, special characters, and all the festival-exclusive food there is to try!

Jamie, it was a pleasure answering your question. I hope you have a magical celebration at The Happiest Place on Earth!

Meet the Panelist: Carrie, California

Well hello there, friend! I'm Carrie, a work-from-home mom and military wife who currently calls sunny San Diego home. You'll find my family in the parks braving drops and coasters to work up our appetite to take as many snack breaks as we can. While Disneyland is our home away from home, we love trying to make a Walt Disney World Resort vacation happen at least once a year now too. All my friends know I'm the go-to for Disney advice, so I'm here to help you plan and experience the magic on your visit! Learn More About Carrie
