My mother walks with a cane. We plan to ride the monorail from our resort (contemporary) to Epcot. . Is there an easily accessible at the TTC for someone with a cane? I remember having to switch with stairs ?

    Welcome, Leighann!

You and your mother are as welcome as can be here at planDisney and at Disney Parks. Inclusion is a core value for Disney, and the theme parks and resorts are designed with accessibility in mind. It sounds like you’re familiar with traveling from the classic Disney’s Contemporary Resort to EPCOT and I’m happy to help you understand the details of what to expect.

The Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) is a central hub for transportation to the Magic Kingdom area resorts, Magic Kingdom Park, and EPCOT. At Disney’s Contemporary Resort you can take an elevator to the monorail platform (and can take it upon returning, too) after going through security. When you arrive at the TTC there are long ramps to walk down and back up again to switch to the EPCOT Monorail. You can take your time here as monorails arrive frequently, so please don’t feel rushed by the hustle of the crowd. Upon arrival at EPCOT there is an elevator at the platform, but it’s a bit hidden so please ask a Cast Member for guidance if you don’t see it right away. There are ramps here to get to the main entrance of EPCOT as well.

Wheelchair rentals are available per day if it would make your day exploring EPCOT easier, Leighann. You can inquire at the main entrance of the theme park after getting off the monorail. I usually put in the most steps in a day at EPCOT as I zig and zag to favorite attractions and do a lap or two around World Showcase. You don’t have to reserve this in advance, so you can see how your mother feels that day and what would be most comfortable for you both.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is such a fun place to stay! I love the iconic design and the historic significance of this structure as the Walt Disney World Resort was being built. I hope you can snag a dining reservation to experience Steakhouse 71 – their lunchtime burger is my favorite on property!

Please let us know if you have any other questions about how to make this special visit with your mother more accessible and seamless.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
