Ahoy, Lauren, and welcome back to
planDisney!
Thank you for cruising back over for help with your upcoming vacation with Mickey and the gang. You'll have a magical, memorable experience no matter what, but I'm sure you're hoping that your mother can join you and your daughter!
Lauren, I am glad you asked this question because I want you to be clear on the process, so no money is lost. The best way to handle a situation like this is to book all three of you together to ensure the cruise fare is set at the time of booking and that there is room for her on the ship. Each assembly station is allowed only a set number of Guests, and once that number is reached, no additional Guests can be added to a
stateroom, even if there is space. If you have to remove your mom, your cruise fare will not change since it will still be double occupancy. The most important piece to this puzzle is knowing what day your final payment is due. As long as you remove your mom before that date, you will receive a full refund of the deposit. The only exception to that rule is if you book a non-refundable fare, like a guaranteed stateroom with restrictions. For 5 nights or less, the final payment is due at 90 days, and 120 days for 6 or more nights. If she realizes after the final payment date, cancellation fees will apply unless someone can take her place. There's usually no charge to change the Guest name 45 days or more, and $50.00 between 30 and 44 days.
I hope my answer helps with your
planning process and that your mom can join you on board. If you have any other questions, we hope you'll keep us in mind. We are always happy to assist fellow cruisers.
