Hi Connie,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It sounds like you are planning an amazing family adventure to the Walt Disney World Resort. I am always happy to greet a fellow North Carolinian!
Having an electric conveyance vehicle (ECV) makes it much easier for guests with mobility challenges to get around the resorts and theme parks. You can certainly rent one at the theme parks. Check the
ECV Rental Guide for more information. The guide will provide the most current pricing. Be advised that guests cannot reserve electric conveyance vehicles in the parks - cast members distribute them on a first come, first serve basis.
Since the resorts are vast and electric conveyance vehicles cannot be reserved in the theme parks, I suggest that you rent one from a Disney featured provider. The list of Disney featured providers is located in the
ECV Rental Guide. They can also deliver the electric conveyance vehicle to your Walt Disney World Resort and your mother-in-law can keep it with her in the room. With the delivery service, she would have access to her electric conveyance vehicle at the resort and in the theme parks.
I also suggest that you review the
Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities Guide. It will help you determine which attractions allow guests to remain in the electric conveyance vehicle for the experience, which will require transfer to a wheelchair and which would require walking.
Connie, my husband has mobility challenges and we have always been pleased with the helpfulness of cast members at the Walt Disney World Resort. They have been amazing!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
