My mother in law made a family trip. How can I link it to my account so I can plan some things along with my magic band?

    Hi there, Tasha!

Visiting Walt Disney World Resort is always magical, but doing so with family makes it even more special. I happen to be in charge of most of the planning in my family, but I know other people like to be able to add dining reservations and additional plans, too.

You can connect your account to your mother-in-law's using the My Disney Experience app or the Walt Disney World Resort Website, which is my preference. You'll start by inviting family and friends. When you visit this page, click the green bar that reads "Add Family & Friends." If you haven't logged in yet, it will prompt you to do so. Once logged in, you'll be taken to your "Family & Friends List," which shows all Guests you've shared planning with in the past. In order to connect with your mother-in-law, scroll to the bottom of the page and choose "Add A Guest." Choose the option for "I'll enter their name and age." Here, you will fill in your mother-in-law's information. The most important part of this step is to toggle the option for "Invite this Guest to connect." Once you select that option, there will be a space to input your mother-in-law's email. Make sure to use the email she uses for her My Disney Experience account. Once you submit this info, your mother-in-law will receive an email stating that you have invited her to connect. She will choose "Accept" and your accounts will be linked!

This process is very similar on the My Disney Experience app if you'd like to do it that way. First, choose the menu button in the bottom right corner of the home page. Then select "My Profile." At the top of the page, choose "Friends & Family List." Then choose "Add a Guest" and follow the rest of the instructions from above. Your mother-in-law will receive the same email to accept your invitation.

Now, let's link your MagicBand! While we're on the subject of the My Disney Experience app, we'll start there. First, choose the menu button again in the button right corner. Then, choose "Link to Account," followed by "Link Tickets or Passes." On this screen, you can choose "Scan Code" and use your smartphone or device to scan the code on the back of your MagicBand. You can also choose to manually input this number into the blank section provided. Once you submit the page, you'll be asked to choose the Guest to whom to link the MagicBand, which in this case, is you!

It is also possible to link your MagicBand online. You will enter the code on the back of your MagicBand into the blank section under "ID Number." Assign the band to yourself on the next page, submit and your MagicBand will be ready to go! My favorite thing about MagicBands is that they are multi-functional. It is nice to have my room key, park tickets, photo pass and payment method all in one place!

Enjoy your trip to the "Most Magical Place on Earth!"
