Hi. my mother in law is coming with us to disney this year, she went to Disney before with her niece. How is her fingerprint gonna work? She didn't use magic band and she is not getting one either this time. Will her last fingerprint affect my account?

    Hi Yihan,

Welcome to planDisney! It's wonderful to hear you're planning a Walt Disney World Resort trip with your family, including your mother-in-law! Trips like these are sure to create memories that you'll cherish forever. I can totally understand your concern about the fingerprint scan, especially since the Walt Disney World Resort system for park entry is a bit unique. Let me help clear things up.

The Walt Disney World Resort uses fingerprint scans as part of its ticketing system to ensure that each ticket is used by the same person every day. If your mother-in-law is using the same ticket or has an annual pass, her fingerprint scan is stored for future use of that ticket or pass. As an annual passholder myself, I always have to ensure I use the same finger when scanning into the parks, otherwise, they request my ID to verify my identity and then they take a new fingerprint scan.  Her fingerprint scan should not affect anything on your account. When your mother-in-law visits the park again, her fingerprint will simply be rescanned and if needed, linked to her current ticket for the trip.

Since she won't be using a MagicBand this time, she'll likely use a standard admission card, which will also be linked to this new fingerprint scan. It's a seamless process, so there’s no need to worry about previous visits impacting your current account or experience.

Remember, Disney is all about creating a smooth and enjoyable experience for its guests. If you or your mother-in-law have any concerns upon arrival or during your stay, the Cast Members at the entrance or Guest Relations are incredibly helpful and can assist with any ticketing or entry questions.

Planning a trip with a big family can bring up a lot of questions, but it sounds like you’re on top of things. If you have any more questions, whether it's about your stay, dining reservations, or making the most of Disney Genie+ service, feel free to ask. We're here to help make your family's trip as magical and worry-free as possible!

Wishing you a magical trip filled with wonderful new memories!
