Hi! My mother and my 2 kids will coming to watch me run the 2019 Princess Half Marathon. What time would they need to catch the bus to watch me run by the castle in Magic Kingdom and/or finish at Epcot? I’m likely in a later corral with a 12 min mile.

    Hi Amy,

Thanks for visiting Disney Parks Mom Panel, and hello to a fellow NJ Disney fan!

Congrats to you in advance for running in the Disney Princess Half Marathon. My wife has participated in a number of the runDisney races, and I have always had so much fun as her chEARleader. Her favorite race has always been the Disney Princess Half Marathon, and my favorite moments are seeing her run through Cinderella Castle and jump for joy.

There are so many unknown variables for the time it takes you reach Cinderella Castle — when your corral starts, where you position yourself in your corral, whether you stop for photos, the weather (hotter temperatures can mean more water stations and water stops), the time it takes from a walking pace at the start to your desired running pace, and other factors.

My best suggestion is to make sure your mother signs up for Runner Tracking either on the event website or at the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo. With Runner Tracking, your mother can receive texts with your location as you make your way through the race. If you haven't done so already, you'll want to check out the ChEAR Squad packages so that your mother can grab a spot in the viewing area near Cinderella Castle. I also suggest checking out the Official Digital Event Guide when it's available so you can review the race course and spectator viewing tips. This will help your mother plan how to get around to her viewing spots to chEAR you on.

For past races, my son and I joined the ChEAR Squad so we could watch both from the Cinderella Castle viewing area and from the Finish Line ChEAR Zone. For recent races, we have opted just to wait at the Epcot finish viewing area, and that is so much fun as well.

    Amy, enjoy your enchanting run!

Meet the Panelist: Jerry, Pennsylvania

The playful and creative optimism of all things Disney has enthralled me since I was a kid. I loved watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights, seeing all the live-action and animated classics in theaters, and — of course — visiting "The Most Magical Place on Earth" for the first time 45 years ago. These days, the big kid in me still loves to play Disney. As a long-time Disney destinations vacationer, I'm looking forward to helping you play Disney starting here at planDisney!
