What motel/hotel is in the park and the animals can come up to the windows or very close?

    Hi Nancy! Welcome to planDisney.

You are asking about one of my very favorite hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge! I spent an amazing two days there with a dear friend a few days ago. We had a Savanna View room, and I loved drinking my morning coffee on our balcony and watching the animals.

I bet you’ve seen some amazing video of the over 30 African wildlife species roaming the grounds right outside the resort hotel windows and balconies. If you reserve a Savanna View room, you will find a field guide to the animals in your room so you can spot and identify the different species. It’s wonderful. I do want to note that not all rooms have a Savanna View, so be sure to book that category if you want to be able to see animals from your room. But, never fear! If you reserve a standard view room, there are viewing areas throughout the resort hotel.
I also want to note that while this resort hotel is close to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, it is not located inside the park. However, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge feels like an extension of the Animal Kingdom theme park, with very similar theming, treats and food options, and animals galore.

If you decide to stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, you will have a wild time, Nancy. I see you’re looking at a 2022 arrival, so please note that this hotel has not fully reopened at this time. As part of the phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort, not all resorts are currently operational. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village is currently accepting reservations, so you do have the option for a Deluxe Villa stay if you’d like. At this time, we don’t have a reopening date for the rest of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge; keep an eye on the Resort Hotels Know Before You Go page for updates.

A meal at Sanaa is on the must-do list for me. The Indian-Style Bread Service, with its delicious assortment of dips and warm naan bread, is incredible, and I love to pair it with a fresh mango margarita. So delicious!

Jambo means hello, and I hope you are saying "jambo" to the giraffes at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge of your vacation next year! If you think of any further questions as you dream about your visit, please come back and see us.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
